Plastic is a non-biodegradable substance that becomes a challenge to dispose of; therefore it remains in the environment for hundreds of years. One million sea birds and One hundred thousand marine mammals are killed annually from plastic in our oceans. Animals become entangled in plastic and can mistake it for food, an animal with a plastic bag around it’s neck will defiantly have trouble moving through the water, resulting in not being able to catch its prey or escape predators.

This experimental series of  photographs was created to show an alternative view on plastic pollution found in the ocean. The images suggest animal suffocation in toxic gases from the decaying plastic finding its way to the surface harming everything in its pathway. These plastics contribute to the current issue of Greenhouse Gases which continuously impact on our natural environment. Francesca photographed people so that the images could resonate with the audience better, she is suggesting that if this animal were a person more people would take notice. Francesca hopes this series will prompt thoughts for the viewers on how they could change their plastic consumption habits in aid to reduce this negative impact.
